Ferraro nets 3, P-Bruins win

PORTLAND, Maine -- Peter Ferraro scored a hat trick in the third period,
lifting the Providence Bruins to a 4-3 win over the Portland Pirates in
American Hockey League play last night.

Kent Hulst scored a goal and added an assist for the Pirates. Both teams
scored twice on the power play.

The Pirates took a two-goal lead in the first period, but Providence
answered with two to tie it before the period ended. After Rick Kowalsky
scored at 1:06 and Hulst hit at 12:17, Ferraro netted his first of the night
at 15:30, and knocked in his second with 1:41 remaining.

Antti Laaksonen gave the P-Bruins a 3-2 lead when he scored at 2:42 of the
second period, but Stewart Malgunas's goal tied it at 3-3 at 15:41.

Ferraro completed his hat trick when he scored the game-winner at 11:31 of
the third period.

Winning goalie John Grahame stopped 23 of 26 shots while Martin Brochu made
33 saves for Portland.
