September 22, 1998 Bruins rally from 0-3 for tie GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Peter Ferraro's power-play goal midway through the third period capped a three-goal comeback that gave the Boston Bruins a 3-3 tie with the Florida Panthers in an exhibition game last night. Boston (2-2-1) made it 3-1 when Peter Nordstrom poked in a deflection of a shot by Hal Gill at 15:43 of the second period. Antti Laaksonen made it 3-2 with a short-handed goal at 3:32 of the third period, beating Todd MacDonald close in on the right side. Ferraro's tying goal at 10:45 was a shot from the left circle that deflected off MacDonald's skate. Florida (0-1-2) opened its 3-0 lead on first-period goals by Viktor Kozlov and Jaroslav Spacek, followed by Marcus Milsson's goal at 14:35 of the second period. Kozlov's goal came just 14 seconds into the game on a shot from the right wing that hit the far post and ricocheted past goalie Jim Carey. Both teams squandered power-play opportunities following Ferraro's goal, including Boston's man advantage starting at 2:22 of overtime. For the game, the Panthers were 2-of-7 on the power play, while the Bruins were 1-of-9. Copyright © 1998 The Providence Journal Company |
